Canje Block Offshore Guyana
The Canje block is located roughly 300 km offshore Guyana. Canje is entirely located in Guyanese territorial waters with its eastern boundary tracking the border between Guyana and Suriname.
We are currently reviewing the available 2D seismic data on Canje and have already identified several features which will be the focus of our upcoming expanded 2D seismic program.
Upon thorough review and analysis of the new 2D data showing geologically significant hydrocarbon prospects, JHI expects to exercise its option for the 3D seismic program to delineate potential drillable prospects.
We are encouraged about our block's prospectivity based on the interest by other major oil producers who are exploring properties near Canje. In fact, Canje is bordered by concessions with partners including: ExxonMobil, Hess, Kosmos Energy, Shell, Repsol, Tullow, Anadarko and other leading exploration companies.
While we expect to begin working with newly acquired seismic data unique to Canje, we are also eagerly following the announcements of other companies in the Guyana-Suriname Basin who have announced drilling plans for 2015 and 2016 (View Committed Drilling Activity Chart).
Our fellow explorers in the Guyana-Suriname Basin have multiple, world class exploration opportunities around the world, so we’re encouraged that they are committing the resources to study and drill exploration wells on their projects near our block. This unquestionably shows a high level of industry interest in what the U.S. Geologic Survey has called the second most prospective, under-explored hydrocarbon basin left on earth.
